Profession/Title: Engineer – Purchasing Agent
Description of Job:
Reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible to the Project Executive or Project Manager as it relates to the coordination of the purchasing effort. Purchase material and subcontracts from qualified vendors and subcontractors in accordance with the contract documents. Create the general and special conditions requirements. Examine plans and specifications for any deficiency, construction issues, and technical questions. Establish project bidding procedures, preparation, pre-qualifications and approval of the bid lists ensuring that these are acceptable to the client. Conduct scope reviews with competitive bidders. Negotiate and issue recommendations for award. Issue subcontracts, insurance, bonding specific to the project. Maintain purchasing schedule and manage change orders.
Hours Worked: 60 hrs + per week
Work Conditions: Office/Jobsite; visit old, new and unoccupied buildings; walkthrough
Current Salary: $140,000.00
Starting Salary: $ 60,000.00
Education Required: BS or BA in civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management or architecture

One needs time management, great communications skills, conflict resolution, integrity, team work, leadership, technical translation (how to read technical drawings) and a passion to build.
