Profession/Title: Director/Senior Director, Online Marketing

Description of Job: 
Generate revenue for membership clubs through online advertisements. Create banner and landing page ads promoting the membership clubs. Develop and maintain the annual advertising budget and P&L. Negotiate advertising rates. Create and execute test advertisements as well as full P&L analysis of results. Make next steps determinations, i.e. roll out or further testing. Investigate new online media channel opportunities for membership clubs, i.e. social networking, mobile advertising. Identify new technological advances with the goal of increasing efficiencies and conversion rates. Develop new products based on media opportunities.

Hours Worked: 50 per week

Work Conditions: 4 days in an open environment office (no offices at all) and 1 day at home.

Current Salary: with tenure, salary can be $200K (plus bonuses)

Starting Salary: Typically starts at $100K

Education Required: Bachelor Degree, preferably in Marketing. MBA not required but helpful.

Skills Required:
Creative, detail oriented. In addition to solid math skills, must be analytical and intuitive. Excel, power point, Word absolutely essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be a people person, as inter personal skills are critical. Flexibility is a mandate, as budgets and direction change constantly.

Creativity, ability to work in an emerging market. Change is constant so ideas are always fresh and there is continual learning. Client services: internet companies are scattered across the country, so there is a good amount of travel. Flexibility: can perform job functions remotely.

Worst Things about Job: 
Tons of detail. Need to stay on top of the metrics or there can be a sizeable dollar loss. Also need to look past the details and understand the metrics. Without understanding, mistakes may be repeated. Technology changes every day so it is essential to stay abreast of trends. Need to thrive on constant change.
