Description of Job:
The registered nurses in the Exceptional Children’s Services program provide direct nursing services to school children who have specific healthcare needs due to developmental delays. These services make it possible for students with special needs to attend and stay in school. In addition to this the nurses help to educate parents, students, and school staff on various aspects of the student’s disease or disability.
Hours Worked: Twenty-five hours a week (part-time position)
Work Conditions: The nurses work in various classrooms. Travel from school to school is required.
Current Salary: $24K
Starting Salary: $20K
Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Direct care skills, communication and patience.

Working with children; communicating with parents; great hours.
Worst Things about Job:
Occasionally the children become very ill and a few have passed away. This is extremely difficult.
